George Fitz-Hardinge Berkeley (29 January 1870 – 14 November 1955) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Oxford University in the 1890s. He also played minor counties cricket for Oxfordshire between 1904 and 1906. A left-arm medium pace bowler, he took 131 wickets in 32 first-class appearances at an average of 20.75.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Player Profile: George Berkeley )〕 He best bowling performance occurred on his debut, when he took eight wickets for Oxford University in the first innings against the touring Australians.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Oxford University v Australians: Australia in England 1890 )〕 Berkeley was awarded his Blue, appearing against Cambridge in the University match, in each of his four years at Oxford. He was Oxford leading wicket-taker during his first three years at the university, but in the third, he was unable to play in all the matches, but maintained a strong bowling average. He served in the Worcestershire Regiment from 1898 to 1901 and in the First World War he was a brigade musketry officer with the 3rd Cavalry reserve and a member of the Claims Commission in France and Italy. He was married twice and died at his home, Hanwell Castle, near Banbury, Oxfordshire.〔 ==References==
